What do I need to start my coral reef aquarium itself?
I have an octopus too! So I would like to introduce the new environment.
If you already have an octopus, I'd like to create an environment to their liking. A situation of coral reefs really do not do very well for an octopus for several reasons. Chief among these was the subject of lighting. Corals require bright light and octopus is a nocturnal animal that prefer low light. Another very important is that all the crabs, snails, shrimp, shellfish etc. in the tank is a potential for an octopus appetizer. That applies to any unsuspecting fish as well. I just do not think that worked.
